SustainT&T_ABPCO_Post_Dates (3)Sustain T&T made waves with its 2015 film A Better Place at last year’s Green Screen Film Series. Now, the group behind it all is taking the movie on the road to help spread its message and inspire community action.

A Better Place is a feature documentary film in five parts taking the viewer to different communities in Trinidad and Tobago and exploring what people there are doing to make Trinidad and Tobago a better place.

The inspiring film blends local stories with home-grown music featuring Black Loyalty, Freetown Collective, Gillian Moor, Ruth Osman and Solman. It was directed by award winning director Miquel Galofré and produced by Carver Bacchus of Sustain T&T.

The film will be coming to five communities in May and June 2016, supported by workshop sessions where the public can learn more about how they can gain access to funding for environmental projects of their own.

A Better Place is funded in part by the Global Environment Fund, Small Grants Programme, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and is also an outreach project to support the development of environmental activities in communities across T&T.

Carver Bacchus says

“The objective is to inspire people to identify environmental challenges in their community and to actually do something about it. Often support is the issue – technical or financial. Through this project the UNDP is letting communities know that they are ready and willing to partner with them for a better Trinidad and Tobago.”

Sustain T&T is offering to help people who are part of a community group, have an environmental project idea, or need support to develop better project skills or apply for funding.

All are invited to see the film for free and participate in a capacity assessment workshop, where Sustain T&T will help to facilitate applications to GEF SGP UNDP.
